“The Heart of Nike Park”
What is the Snack Shack?
The heart of Nike Park is Great Falls Little League’s concession stand, our beloved “Snack Shack.” Not only is it a fun and easy way to grab yummy treats and meals while cheering on your team, it also is our way of fundraising for GFLL! Every purchase supports our League, and thereby your player's experience. From keeping the lights on, to maintaining the fields, to paying our umpires, the Snack Shack helps keep the league funded.
How is the Snack Shack “staffed?”
The Snack Shack is run by our Snack Shack Coordinator and a team of volunteers who help open and close the Snack Shack each day. If you are interested in being part of this team, please contact Laila Dastur ([email protected]). We are looking for more support!
We rely 100% on our Great Falls Little League family volunteers to work in the Snack Shack during games at Nike 1 and Nike 2. The Snack Shack requires two adults to operate and we have a griller once a day. Whenever there are games scheduled at Nike 1 and/or Nike 2, the teams are assigned volunteer slots. Throughout the season, families participating in GFLL will be asked to work 1-2 shifts of 1 hour and 15 minutes (over the course of 8-9 weeks this really isn't that much to give back in support of our league and community). This is also a fantastic way for teens to gain service hours. Please contact [email protected] for service hour approval. We truly appreciate your support!
I have never worked at the Snack Shack. How will I know what to do?
The idea of volunteering at the Snack Shack may be a little overwhelming. However, it is truly a fun and stress-free experience. We provide a set menu with prices, written instructions, and contact info for Snack Shack Coordinators in case of questions or issues. by providing menu and price lists, written guidance and instructions, as well as providing contact information for the Snack Shack Coordinators in case of questions or issues. It is as easy as giving candy to kiddos!
How do volunteers sign up for Snack Shack slots?
For the Spring 2024 season, we will circulate a Sign Up Genius and give a 48 hour window to allow families to choose volunteer slots which best fit their schedules. After that window, the remaining slots will be allocated to families who have no yet signed up. Slots will be assigned based on when teams have games scheduled on Nike 1 or 2. This gives the volunteers who are working full visibility of their child's game even while volunteering. A true win-win!
Please aim to arrive 5 minutes before your shift begins and stay until the next round of volunteers arrives.
Of you cannot make your allocated slot, or have an emergency come up for the slot you chose, please work directly with your coach and your team to find someone to cover the shift.
Shifts for the post-season tournament will be added toward the end of the regular season.
Are children allowed to volunteer in the Snack Shack?
Children supervised by a parent or a consenting adult can work the customer windows. The kids should not be left unattended in the Snack Shack, and no one is permitted to eat inside the Snack Shack. Handling hot foods is also not allowed for children due to risk of injury.
We encourage students in grades 6 and higher who need service hours to sign up to volunteer in the Snack Shack and will sign off on service hour forms for their time. Contact Laila Dastur if you need a service hour verification form completed.
Do all teams in GFLL volunteer in the Snack Shack?
We highly encourage all GFLL players, coaches and families to enjoy the Snack Shack each and every week of the season and thank them for supporting the league by volunteering. The Snack Shack helps create a sense of community for our GFLL families and we look forward to seeing you all up there this season.
Thanks for your help and have a great season!
Please remember to clean up after yourselves throughout Nike Park. Our Snack Shack is a wonderful offering, but we count on our families to ensure trash and recycling make it to the proper bins. Thanks!
